Artist Statement
Jorjana Letow was always inspired to create some type of artwork from a
young age. Experiences started in girl scouts using decoupage and
jewelry making to working with needlepoint and cross-stitch throughout
high school. In college, decisions had to be made on a degree, so
Jorjana combined an art minor degree with her elementary teaching degree
from UNT. As a single parent, teaching did not pay the bills, so
Jorjana pursued work outside the home and has been an employee of
Frito-Lay for 18 years. With two grown children and eyesight changing
with age, Jorjana decided to try her hand at a watercolor class listed
in a summer recreation catalog back in 2000 and has since grown to love
the medium. Influential teachers have included Sue Alston and Mary
Griffin who also were PAA members.
As a board member of PAA, Jorjana was involved in 2003/2004 as 'Artist
of the Month' and taken on 'Secretary' for 2005. Jorjana has won
several awards and recognition for her art.

She has won
first place for her work at Frito-Lay's employee art show, Honorable
mention for the PAA 2004 Members Spring art show at the Plano Repertory
theater and was chosen in spring of 2005 to have her work entered into
the PAA National Juried show. Jorjana's main goal of painting has been
to try to capture and express what makes life special and all it's
miracles. With camera in hand, Jorjana tries to click the shutter on all the special day-to-day things she observes and has produced them into her artwork. Seeing tiny dew drops hanging from leaves, spider webs captured in sunlight, her dog Pepper, animals (like zebras and cheetas) with all their wonderful color and special markings, dragonflies at the Nasher garden, trips to Montana, Colorado, Puerto Rico, and bird watching have always been a large inspiration to her hear and creativity.
