Artist's Statement
Since I was a small child I have always appreciated the serenity and beauty of nature. There were forests, mountains and flowers where I grew up. I had the opportunity to study nature closely and realized how much I loved the colors, shapes and forms it revealed to me. My family and I also traveled to many different regions of the country, including most National Parks, where the beauty of nature abounds. I've just always been "tuned in" to nature.
My creative outlet in my younger years was music, and my college background is in science. I didn't really do much with art until I was a little older. I was introduced to watercolor by an aunt who is a very talented artist. I loved the softness and clear, clean colors of this medium. I began to express myself through watercolor and was fascinated by the spontaneity and freshness of color that it offered me. I also find that watercolor can be a bit of a challenge at times, which only adds to the enjoyment of the journey. Most recently I've been inspired to work on painting some of the piano music I played years ago, like Beethoven's Moonlight Sonata. It's wonderful to be able to fuse music and visual art together.

My art education consists of studying with local as well as nationally known artists. Each instructor has given my artwork a new dimension and has given me new inspirations and ideas. I've been a member of the PAA Board of Directors for the last two years, and have really appreciated the opportunities to learn and grow in my artwork that membership provides. My artwork has been displayed at many businesses in the Metroplex. I'm currently represented by a virtual gallery, Aurora Images by Synne.
