Luda Morar & Olga Tenyakova

Amazing how paths of different people cross to bring up the most unexpected and wonderful results. Two Russian ladies met in Texas a couple of years ago just to find that they both share something more than an origin – a passion for art. Different backgrounds and different lifestyles only complement the story:

Luda Morar (Member of PAA, SoFA, SWS) –
originally from Ural region, has traveled all over Russia for many years. With architectural background and strong design skills she has developed a beautiful style in her fine art.

Olga Tenyakova (Member of SoFA) – born in Russian Far East, has always been in the middle of art life of her city, participating in various shows and exhibitions, taking part in art projects, refining creative skills as commercial illustrator and artist.

Ending up in the Dallas metroplex, both Olga and Luda proceeded in their own ways of art until they met in their search for new knowledge – art techniques, styles, and methods. Having a fellow artist and a friend at one’s side always helps when conquering new challenges, such as artistic anatomy and human figure drawing.

“As an architect, I can appreciate how supreme a human body is in its structure. How fabulous is the work of Celestial engineers,” - says Luda, and Olga adds: “Human figure combines it all – details of a still-life, flow of a landscape, condensed emotions of a portrait… Truly, if you master your figure drawing skills, understand the way a human body works in the environment, you'll have it all.”

All Old Masters studied the human body to create some of the most glorious pieces that we all enjoy now. Unfortunately, artistic nudity is not always welcome in galleries and exhibitions these days. Thus, it's even more exciting to find people that appreciate and understand the beauty.

Both Luda and Olga are now members of Society of Figurative Arts where they take figurative art and artistic anatomy classes from Michael Mentler (SoFA founder), DFW based artist and art teacher. Being able to work with life models of different types – age, sex, shape, color – provides a great opportunity to improve artistic skills and to learn more about the beauty of a human body.

As a result of last year's studies, the ladies prepared a large art show called “Beautiful People” featuring their figurative art in pastel, watercolor, crayon and mixed medium. Along with several pieces sold during the show, they were encouraged to start working on their next show in the middle of the year 2005. They also plan to apply to the upcoming 2005 National Juried Exhibition at ArtCentre of Plano.

Along with participating in various local shows and exhibitions, Luda and Olga work with individuals creating beautiful portraits and figures in most gentle and feminine medium – watercolor and pastel. Let the collaboration of these wonderful artists grow so we can enjoy their art.
